Episode 17 - The One Where Han Solo Is Caramelized.
August 06, 2010 07:20 PM PDT
Well, it's our final episode. Before the main topic, we do some plugs/Recommend A...'s. For our farewell, we give our Top 5 favorite cliffhanger endings. While most are from movies, some are from television shows, as well. Beware, this episode is very spoiler heavy. And we also go into more movies than just our Top 5 lists, so if you're worried about having any particular movies spoiled, take a gander at the list of movies/shows we discuss (this is in alphabetical, not chronological): 28 Weeks Later...
After our lengthy discussion on cliffhangers, we mosey on into a Film vs. Film. Travis defends Saw 3 while Nick defends Saw 6. And once we struggle hating on a series we both enjoy, we end the show with a double dose of the Mono-Dia-logues of the Week. That's right, both of us do 2. And that'll about do it! Episode 16 - Awesome Equals Christopher Nolan In This One.July 21, 2010 12:28 PM PDT
For the second week in a row, Travis was unable to join us. Instead, Rachel has returned for another episode in his stead. This week, we discuss the career of one Christopher Nolan due to the recent release of Inception. If you notice something out of place on this episode, it's not your computer... We started the show with a brief plug before moving in to Nolan's body of work in chronological order. After a brief D-Bag, we went into Film vs. Film, or in this case, Scene vs. Scene. And finally, we wrapped it all up with our Mono-Dialogues of the Week. Now, that's how we recorded it... that's not to say that's how it ended up... Episode 15 - The One Where Travis Has A Sex Change (Or Not).July 11, 2010 03:46 PM PDT
I know we've said it many times before, but this is actually a very special episode. For the first time, Travis is absent from the podcast; and, for the first time, we have a returning guest--Rachel from Rachel's Reel Reviews. In this fun little episode, Rachel and Nick discuss the Twilight "Saga" (books and movies), going character by character. But first, Rachel plugs her own podcast, Reel Insight, which she co-hosts with Jess from Insight into Entertainment. After the main discussion and a bit of D-Bag, Rachel and Nick lie through their teeth to give you a compelling Film vs. Film where we battle two of the best Harry Potter films (for our actual thoughts, stay tuned after the closing theme). And then we wrap things up with our Mono-Dialogues of the Week (and in Nick's case, we do mean "mono"(tone)). Episode 14 - The One WIth The Last Airbender.July 03, 2010 08:24 PM PDT
Another Saturday leaving us... which means it's time for another episode of The Demented Encyclopedia! This week, Travis and Nick discuss both the show and the movie versions of Avatar: The Last Airbender. This episode is a little different from usual. Neither of us had a "Recommend A...," and we're gonna have an extra long Film vs. Film next week, so we decided not to do one this week. As such, we decided to do another little segment at the beginning of the show entitled "Controversy Corner," wherein we discuss one of the many controversies surrounding not only this movie, but in Hollywood in general: Whitewashing casts. From there, we go into what we like and dislike about both the series and the movie (hint: one is mostly "like" talk and one is mostly "dislike" talk. Dare you to guess which is which!). And then we finish up the episode with the only reason anybody listens to the show, The Mono-Dialogue of the Week. And that's about it! I hope you enjoy the episode. Make sure to keep an eye out for next week when we have our first returning guest host! Episode 13 - The One About Uwe Boll.
June 26, 2010 09:43 PM PDT
Warning: There are many expletive deleted's in this podcast! Your virgin ears have been warned. ----- We start off with a couple recommendations before heading into the main topic of the man, the mystery, Uwe Boll. Basically, we go through his entire catalog and discuss his movies, giving our thoughts, and wrapping it up with the D-Bag. From there, we move on to one of our newer segments, Film vs. Film. Nick attempts to argue that BloodRayne is a more entertaining film than Far Cry, as Travis tries to argue, well, the opposite. And, finally, we end with the Mono-Dialogues of the Week. |
